This book is on half leather rebound copy, protecting the original emblem of the book. It is the first edition with signatures of Vijay LaxmiPandit and NayantaraSehgal (daughter of Vijay LaxmiPandit) on the dinner menu card dated March18, 1964. Both women were key figures in India’s independence-era politics and literature. Edges are slightly damaged but the text is intact.

 Nehru wrote this book when confined in prison between the years 1942 and 1946, for participating in the Quit India Movement. This piece was Nehru’s attempt to honor his beloved country and its rich culture.
